How we met: We actually first met in 8th confirmation class at church, but became friends in high school and were part of the same group. We both dated other people throughout high school and college, but we were both single for the first time at the same time on Christmas 2006! Since we already knew each other for almost ten years, we fell in love very fast and never looked back. Sometimes it’s still weird to look at each other and think about how long we were friends before having feelings for one another!

Style/inspiration: I really wanted the wedding to look simple and clean, but also elegant and pretty. I love nautical/preppy, but didn’t want to go overboard or make it look irrelevant with having anchors everywhere! I figured that if I kept the colors simple (as well as my favorite color combo of navy and white), I could add in touches of blue where I wanted and that it would be the perfect balance for me and Tyler. He really didn’t want it to be overly feminine, so I immediately ruled out purples and pinks. We added minimal color with the flowers, envelopes, straws, napkins, etc. I really wanted to focus on the emotional parts of the wedding and enjoying myself, so I didn’t want to get bogged down with making sure every blue or green decoration matched perfectly!

Bride’s favorite moment of the day: Definitely taking pictures right after the ceremony. Dawn and Tory were so much fun and let Tyler and I bask in our excited moods from the ceremony going off without at hitch! The weather was perfect and we knew this would be the only time we really had to spend alone together until it was all over. We got totally into it and did whatever they told us to do. As a result, I LOVE our couples pictures!

My Favorite Moment of the day: Like Laura said, the couple session around the venue was so much fun for the both of us! Laura and Tyler were very relaxed and so happy after the ceremony, and our light turned out to be just perfect for the session!

Preparation or “getting ready” time is a chance for your photographer to capture the precious moments with your family and friends and before you rush off to your ceremony. This is the time where we get to relax a little before the entire day starts and document your hair/makeup, dress prep and enjoying your parents and bridesmaids. This segment of the day is also about recording the “in-between” times before the excitement of the ceremony and reception.  Unless there are time constraints, I always encourage preparation time for all my brides’ because it allows us to start your wedding narrative with some meaningful and poignant moments of the day.
