Couple: Brittany and Josh
Venue: Dank Haus Wedding
Style/Inspiration: Vintage, 1920’s theme

How you both met: On January 6th, 2012, we both attended a bar in Bucktown to watch the college football national championship game – Notre Dame vs. Alabama. We were both routing for the Irish and were both disappointed with the team started to fall against the Crimson Tide. By the second half of the game, the Irish was losing pretty miserably and we started chatting. We discovered that we had a lot in common and actually lived close by each other. A week later we went on our first date to Frasca Restaurant and Wine Bar in Roscoe Village. The rest is history…

Your proposal: On May 31, 2014, Josh prepared a meal at his apartment inspired by our favorite weekend getaway – Milwaukee and our favorite bar in the city – Black Rock. He made a Spotify mix with songs from all of the concerts that we attended together. When he brought out the dessert, the ring was on the plate by the chocolate cake. He got down on one knee to propose. We popped champagne and called our parents. The next day we celebrated with friends and family at Mayfest in Lincoln Square.

Style/Inspiration for your wedding: Vintage, 20s theme – DANK Haus was built in the 1920s so we are playing off the style of the venue. It is the German Cultural Center of Chicago so we are playing off that with Prost! (Cheers) on matchbooks, coasters, marquee, and save-the-date.

What you love about your dress: The lace overlay, the straps, the shimmer on the lace, my vintage headpiece and veil, my shoes
