Couple: Carrie and Brian
Wedding Venue: Adler Planetarium
Style: Whimsical and light

How you both met: (from the groom) Carrie and I met while working together on a project in Bentonville, AR. We became friends when we started working together on the same project in Japan. At the end of our Japan project, I returned to my home in Colorado and Carrie to her’s in Chicago. After that, the friendship endured, but we only communicated via instant messaging. Shortly after returning to the US, I moved to Chicago (to be closer to Carrie although she wasn’t aware of my intentions at the time). However, our friendship strengthened for the next 2 years and we eventually started dating. We dated for roughly a year before I proposed to Carrie.

Your proposal: I proposed to Carrie at the top of Vail Mountain at the Vail Ski Resort in Colorado.

Style/Inspiration for your wedding: The wedding style is intended to be summery and fresh. Also, we are having a modern/simple wedding that ignores a number of typical traditions. For example, we have no flower girl/ring bearer, an odd number in the wedding party, etc. We want the wedding to be fun and relaxed.

Details that mattered to you: The reception area has floor to ceiling windows that capture a beautiful view of the Chicago skyline with the lake in the foreground. We plan to have up-lighting that will give a very nice ambiance in the reception area. We are also very proud of our guest’s table place-cards and the guest sign in area.

What you love about your dress: The shape of the dress is the most important style element.
