Couple: Erin and Michael
Venue: Chicago Knickerbocker Hotel Wedding
Style: Old school Chicago

How you both met (from the Groom): After we matched on Hinge, my eyes instantly lit up and I immediately attempted to put my “best” pickup line to use on Erin. Naturally, after a few back-and-forths, Erin flat out ignored me for a solid two weeks-a fact which she vehemently denies to this day, instead blaming it on her lack of checking the app. Nevertheless, my persistence paid off, she agreed to Monday night post-work drinks a the J. Parker and the rest is history.

Your proposal (from the Bride): Since we had spent a lot of money on travel/gifts for other weddings in the months leading up to December, we decided that instead of exchanging gifts for Christmas, we would celebrate with a dinner. We made a reservation for a Saturday evening and decided that since we would already be dressed and done-up, we should go to mass at 5PM before heading to dinner. So we go to 5PM mass and everything is normal…until the very end. Michael asked that we wait a few minutes to call an Uber.

A few minutes went by and I got impatient. Finally, we walked outside, and on the steps of the church where we would eventually be married, in the perfectly falling snow, Michael got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I said Yes! After somewhat pulling myself together, we got in an Uber to go to our “Christmas dinner”, although it was much more than just a Christmas dinner. Michael had managed to get both my family and his family to fly in ( I am from Kansas City, he is from Detroit) to surprise me and celebrate our engagement. It was absolutely perfect.

Style/Inspiration for Wedding: Classic and traditional.

Details that mattered to you: Since both venues are very detailed in architecture and fit the mold of our classic and traditional style, we wanted to keep the focus on that and let the beauty of St. Clement and the Knickerbocker speak for themselves.

What you love about your dress: I love the simplicity and timelessness of it.
