As an Asheville Wedding photographer, I always love second shooting for great photographers in the area. And if the wedding is at a venue I’ve never been to, even better. I was asked to second shoot for a rustic and elegant wedding at The Vineyards at Betty’s Creek in the gorgeous Smokey Mountains and the day was hot and magical, all at the same time!
The Vineyards at Betty’s Creek is no ordinary wedding venue; it’s a vineyard literally chilling on a mountain! I was blown away form the drop-dead gorgeous views, the cute barns where the bride and groom held their pre-ceremony preparations and the whole scenery of golden light. This was my first time at the vineyards, and I was so taken aback with the beauty of the place.
The theme of the day? Rustic elegance meets boho chic and the bride shined with a bohemian silky gown walking down a mossy aisle with a draped, flowery backdrop for the ceremony. During the ceremony, the groom was literally in tears throughout the entire time. One of the best moments of the day, was capturing their doggy racing down the aisle, and being part of the family celebration.
After the gorgeous outdoor ceremony, guests clinked glasses filled with local wine and nibbled on farm-to-table goodies that probably had even the foodies swooning. The bride and her mom worked with the venue’s planners to create a magical experience inside the lighted barn. I was in charge of all the details, and all I can say is that the scene was set for a whimsical celebration of local breweries and yummy food.
Afterwards, the night was filled with some pretty emotional parent dances, and some pretty wild dancing. Overall, there were so many great moments throughout the day, I ended up shooting almost as many images as I would if I was the main shooter. Such a fabulous day, with a really adorable couple!
