Couple: Katelyn and Jonathan
Venue: Evanston Farmhouse Wedding
Style/Inspiration: Rustic elegance

How you both met: We went to high school together in Georgia and were good friends, but it wasn’t until after graduation that we started dating. Jonathan went up to Chicago for school and we were long-distance for a year, but he transferred to a school in Georgia for the rest of college. But now we’re both in graduate school in Chicago and couldn’t be happier to be back.

Your proposal: Jonathan was in South Africa for three weeks on a mission trip, and he proposed in the airport when he landed. He had given the ring to his father, who drove myself and my grandmother to the airport to pick him up.

Style/Inspiration for your wedding: For our Evanston Farmhouse Wedding we wanted a shabby-chic, rustic, elegant vibe.

Details that mattered to you: The color purple because we both are graduate students at Northwestern University, and lavender specifically because it is Katelyn’s grandmother’s maiden name. Also, we brought in many rustic, southern details to remember our rural roots in Georgia.

What you love about your dress: The detailed lace and long train.
