Couple: Jacie and Gabriel
Venue: Indiana Backyard Micro-Wedding
Style: Family gathering at my home in Indiana
Photographer Notes: For this Indiana Backyard Micro-Wedding, the couple’s super-intimate wedding gathering was an absolute gem of a celebration. On an unseasonably warm Fall morning, I drove from Chicago to Jacie’s family home in northern Indiana and spent the entire day there. The bride’s mom cleared out her backyard atrium and made the space into a beautiful setting for both the ceremony and dinner. When it was wedding time, the couple’s immediate family gathered for a cozy ceremony full of heartfelt vows and lots of tears. Afterward, we headed to the woods down the street for our couple session where the light was absolutely gorgeous. The couple loves the woods, so this really was the perfect setting for our time together.
We walked back almost right in time for dinner to be ready. Before the celebratory meal, the couple had their first dance and parent dances right at sunset. Then, after everyone was seated, it was time for some hilarious speeches and childhood stories from friends and family. Everyone ate a wonderful Italian dinner cooked by Jacie’s mom, and then sadly, it was my time to leave. This day was really what a micro-wedding is all about. Family, friends, food all in an intimate homey setting. Thanks to the couple for inviting me to document your very special day. It was an honor!
(Please know that all the guests had Covid tests before the wedding.)
