Couple: Sara and Dan
Venue: Naperville Meson Sabika Wedding
Style/Inspiration: Vintage and rustic

How you both met: We met in Arlington, VA in October 2012 at a happy hour through mutual friends. Dan’s men’s hockey team was celebrating a championship win at a sports bar called First Down and Sara’s friend forced her to go because there would be cute boys there. We started talking about our mutual love for NYC and Italian food and exchanged numbers by the end of the night. Our first date was a couple of weeks later.

Your proposal: We moved to Brooklyn, NY in April 2014 after Dan’s job was transferred. We had been there about a year before we found out he was being transferred again to outside of Chicago. On our last weekend before moving we went to brunch in our neighborhood and then to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. While we were walking around Dan popped the question in the Rock Garden.

Style/Inspiration for your wedding: Dan had wanted an all rustic style with lots of wood and simple decorations but Sara had wanted some more sparkle and vintage details. I think we ended up with a good compromise of rustic and romantic.

Details that mattered to you: The music and food were really important decisions. We knew we wanted a live band and to do something a little different with the food which is why we went with tapas-style.

What you love about your dress: The gold color and all of the lace detail and beading. I knew I had wanted a v-neck style and I love the scalloped edges around it and in the back. I also really love my burgundy shoes!
